De Luxe Dulcetto Portable

Post by Gmemg » Mon Dec 11, 2017 8:04 pm

Dulcetto (British Polyphon) is one of those firms which seems to have bought in portables and then applied their trademark - it was a common practice amongst "lesser" makers during the 1920's and 1930's often the models are rather plain and basic and not worth having but some really are very Grand indeed

This is one - i have seen them branded with other names but this is a Dulcetto, it is a very square machine as the horn is a sort of folded one fitted in to the upper half of the box - it's a sort of updated decca "Trench Type" with Art deco styling and as with the Decca you just fold the tonearm down and play the record, this one has a record album which fits into the lower part of the case

A unique feature is the combined Carrying/Winding Handle here shown with the carrying handle folded away so the machine can be wound
