The Symphonion Motor

Post by Gmemg » Tue Dec 12, 2017 2:24 pm

In recent years a couple of Symphonion machines have appeared for sale in Auction - they are noticed due to the extraordinary Horns they have but they are unusual in another way - the motors they use which must have been made "in House" and are unique to symphonion machines

Here's one - rescued from a cellar and just needing a clean - and a new speed control, the only part made of Pot - metal !

The motor from the top - notice the very odd shape of the top - plate

From the side - showing the massive build - quality

The Crown Wheel & caged Spring, as used in Musical Boxes

The Speed - regulator - a typical Early Continetal Screw - in type

What it's mounted on - someone wrecked a 19thc Zebra Grate Polish Box !
