Where to find "old Records" is a question i'm often asked ! and there's no simple answer - rather aserie sof more and more questions if the turth be told the first being :

"What are you looking for ?"

If you're looking for a random selection of some Old Bing Crosby or similar period records then most collectors will have a pile of such stuff which may appeal and will be delighted to help - in fact you may find that you go home with a very full car and may find it takes several journeys ! but if you're more specific then we get into very specialised territory

I suppose a quick look in any local charity shop is worth doing - i find the occasion Gem that way but i can't say any heaps of Berliners or G & T's will be lurking there - but if you're looking for something that's not special to a collector but may be of interest to you.

Specialist shops ? there aren't any and as for "junkshops" well, they only contain junk and apart from well sorted heaps never did in my experience - a shop in the back streets of Bedford comes to mind with a gramophone with woodworm most people in the Trade had seen gradually decaying since the early 1970,s

Let us know what kinds of records you want. I'm fortunate enough to have a load of E condition jazz and swing on my for sale pile at the moment that might be £2 a disc or something, common but beautiful condition.
give www.78rpm.co.uk a visit too

I think that's a very good offer, Rob knows what he's doing and if he says a record is in good or mint condition then it really will be !

A lot of what I have for sale, especially the parlophones, are dealer stock copies I.E. new, and the only reason I don't want them is I have equally new copies.

It's true that there are often excellent copies of what re now VERY old records out there - i found in the "old Barn" a ;lot of single sided Zonophones from C 1908 (So now 110 year Old) Which looked MINT condition and played nearly so so it's all to be found
