Record Collecting in the 1930's Nothing changes !

Post by Gmemg » Sat Dec 09, 2017 7:31 pm

I found this article on the gramophone Magazine from 1936 - the more i read the more i realised that what applied in 1936 also applied until fairly recently - the same miserable old "characters" that existed then existed in the mid 1980's when i started seriously collecting, it's really odd but true

Things are quite different to - day with "antiques Centres" full of modern rubbish which is apparently " Decorative" and very rarely any records at all - independant Antiques shops don;t seem to exist to - day as no - one with any sense could earn a living from them.

Read and remember a less pleasant time !

The Seven Social Sins are:
Wealth without work. Pleasure without conscience. Knowledge without character .Commerce without morality. Science without humanity. Worship without sacrifice. Politics without principle.

Money. Greed. Naivety. Falsehoods. Exploitation. Welcome to the wonderful world of gramophones!
