Here are some early Pathe Disques - all three are single sided, the first dates to 1905 - the first production of Disque records - these records use Cylinder "wax" spread on a solid composition base - more of a plate really, the "label" is impressed but has gold Painted oner it, the plain reverse has a delightful multi - coloured advert for Pathe records

The 1905 Pathe Disque showing the gold "label" within the original single sided "sleeve"

The Magnificent Reverse (sadly now the only reason Collectors want these disques - they look nice framed ! )

The record - the Gold "label" is just painted over the impressed title. The surface is heavily craquelered due to shrinkage of the material, the Grooves are VERY fine indeed and appear precisely the same as cylinder grooves thus the first Pathe Reproducer was an adapted Cylinder reproducer

Record 2 - "single Sided French Pathe C 1906/7 " This is a Shellac disque but is still single sided - seen in it's original sleeve, this has much wider grooves which use the Pathe Ball Stylus

The Very plain reverse !
